    New Delhi, June 16, 2026 [VoM News]: During a training mission in Irkutsk region of Siberia,a Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bomber crashed as per Russian Defence Ministry.

    Russian authorities say that the bomber craft was flying without a combat payload when it went down near the village of Kamenka.

    As the footage surfaced, witnessing the aircraft plunging to the ground with
    a massive thick column of smoke erupting off the crash scene.

    The emergency team fire crews were dispatched to the crash site to control the blaze caused by the impact.

    So far, the Russian authorities have confirmed that all four crew members were safety recovered. All were taken to hospital for medical aid.

    Meanwhile, Irkutsk Governor Igor Kobzev said preliminary findings suggest engine failure may have caused the accident, however more details could be revealed once the deep investigation takes place.

    Tu-22M3 – A long-range supersonic bomber capable of carrying cruise missiles, hypersonic Kinzhal missiles, was developed during the Soviet era and later modernised for strategic air force of Russia. NATO calls it as ‘Back Fire’ as it been used in military operations in Syria and Ukraine also.
