North Korea Says Nuclear Status Is Irreversible, Powerful Sister Kim Yo Jong Calls It A “Line of No Retreat”

Seoul, June 14, 2026 [VoM News]: North Korea has maintained that its status as a nuclear weapons state is irreversible and has rejected renewed international calls for denuclearisation.

The statement came after a trilateral meeting in Tokyo, where the United States, South Korea, and Japan reaffirmed their commitment to the complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.

As military cooperation between the United States, South Korea, and Japan continues to grow, North Korean officials described the country’s nuclear status as a critical security guarantee.

Pyongyang stated that pressure and rhetoric from the United States and its allies would not affect its nuclear policy.

In 2019, nuclear negotiations between the United States and North Korea collapsed after the Hanoi Summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and then US President Donald Trump failed to reach an agreement.

North Korea has since described the matter as a permanently settled issue.

Meanwhile, Kim Yo Jong, the influential sister of Kim Jong Un, described North Korea’s nuclear status as a “line of no retreat” and said it remains necessary to deter external threats and preserve national security.
