Key Highlights:

  1. Machine learning and AI can revolutionize education by offering personalized learning experiences.
  2. AI complements traditional education by enhancing educators’ abilities and improving learning outcomes.
  3. Responsible integration of AI in education emphasizes the role of parents and teachers in guiding children’s use of technology.

At the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF), a panel discussion titled ‘Enhancing Private Education: Using Artificial Intelligence in Personalised Learning’ emphasized the transformative potential of new-age technology in education. Prominent AI researcher and trainer Yasmine Al Rawi highlighted the role of AI in delivering personalized learning experiences and improving student performance.

Al Rawi stressed that AI should complement traditional education methods rather than overshadowing them. Drawing parallels with Alan Turing’s groundbreaking work during WWII, she underscored the importance of integrating futuristic technologies into educational institutions to enhance efficiencies and support educators in delivering impactful learning experiences.

Discussing the responsible integration of AI in education, Al Rawi emphasized the critical role of parents and teachers in guiding children’s use of technology. She highlighted platforms like Futurepedia, which showcase AI tools for innovative lesson planning, and innovation hubs like the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa), supporting the development of new ideas in sectors like fintech.

The UAE’s commitment to AI integration across sectors, from education to smart policing initiatives, reflects its national dedication to leveraging cutting-edge technology for societal advancement. As the SCRF continues, attendees can expect engaging activities and talks aimed at entertaining and educating both children and adults.
