Pulwama Police Seize Drug Peddler’s Properties Worth Rs 11 Lakh
In accordance with the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, Pulwama police have confiscated properties valued at over Rs 11 lakh belonging to a notorious drug peddler, as confirmed by an official statement on Tuesday. The action was taken following a comprehensive investigation, identifying the properties as unlawfully acquired through drug trafficking. The accused is presently in judicial custody.
The seized property, a double-storied residential house located in Mujgund, Srinagar district, belongs to Mohd Shafi Mir, a resident of Kalarooch, Kupwara. The attachment was executed under sections 8/20,29 of the NDPS Act at Pulwama police station. This operation, applauded by the local community, signifies a significant stride in combating the utilization of assets obtained from illicit drug trafficking within the Police District Pulwama.
This initiative echoes previous actions by Jammu-Kashmir police, who in April seized properties under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, from terrorists engaged in anti-national activities in Pulwama district. The UAPA empowers law enforcement to detain individuals involved in unlawful activities posing a threat to the state, aiming to safeguard India’s sovereignty and integrity.
