Ch Lal Singh Demand Urgent Relief for Pernote Village Disaster Victims
Choudhary Lal Singh, the Former Member of Parliament and a candidate for the Congress party, along with Fairoz Khan, the State Youth Working President of Jammu and Kashmir, visited Pernote Village to assess the aftermath of a devastating land subsidence that has affected more than 50-55 families. The entire village, within a 2km radius, has suffered varying degrees of damage.
Assessment of the Aftermath
Expressing profound concern, Singh emphasized the crucial role played by prompt action and the assistance of local organizations and volunteers in rescuing the affected families. He highlighted the significant impact of the disaster on agriculture, horticulture, and related activities, rendering the land useless for future use.
During their visit, Singh and Khan stressed the immediate need for relief measures. They demanded 10 lakh rupees in immediate aid for each affected family, equivalent land compensation, and employment opportunities. Their demand underscores a commitment to ensuring that affected families receive the necessary support to rebuild their lives.
Singh reiterated the importance of conducting a comprehensive study to identify the causes of the disaster. He pointed to potential man-made activities, such as the dumping of muck into river beds, as contributing factors. Additionally, the absence of culverts in the Gool-Sangaldan road was noted as a possible cause.
Congress Party’s Commitment
Assuring unwavering support, Singh and Khan pledged to champion the cause of the affected families. They emphasized the Congress party’s steadfast commitment to standing with the people of Jammu and Kashmir during times of crisis. Khan expressed gratitude for Singh’s advocacy and urged prompt action from the authorities to alleviate the suffering of the affected families, including the early restoration of the Gool-Sangaldan road.
