Two Killed and 14 Injured in Memphis, Tennessee Block Party Shooting

On Saturday, a block party turned deadly in Memphis, Tennessee, resulting in the death of two people and hospitalization of 14 others, according to police as per a CNN report.

The Memphis Police Department reported that three of the injured were taken to hospitals in severe condition, and 11 more arrived at hospitals in private vehicles.The shooting occurred at a party where up to 300 people had gathered. Police disclosed that a total of 16 victims were shot at the event, with five victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

Three of them were taken to local hospitals, and two men were pronounced dead at the scene.No suspects were in custody as of Saturday night, and police believe at least two people opened fire at the event. The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing, with the department receiving video footage from the scene and seeking those responsible.

The incident extends the list of more than 115 mass shootings reported in the United States so far this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive. The archive defines a mass shooting as one in which at least four people are shot, excluding the shooter.

Memphis Police Chief Cerelyn Davis said the department is working tirelessly to identify the individuals involved in the shooting and asked anyone with footage or information to contact law enforcement.
