
IAF Chief Continuous Surveillance Over LAC by Air Force Ongoing
Multi-Billion Dollar Modernization Plan
In a significant announcement, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari revealed that the Indian Air Force (IAF) is poised to embark on an extensive modernization drive, aiming to induct military platforms, equipment, and hardware valued between ₹2.5 to ₹3 lakh crore over the next seven to eight years. This ambitious initiative underscores the IAF’s commitment to bolster its capabilities in the rapidly evolving global defense landscape.
Vigilance Along the Line of Actual Control
Addressing the press conference in anticipation of the upcoming Air Force Day, Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Chaudhari, emphasized the IAF’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding India’s borders. He affirmed that the IAF remains vigilant along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), with a particular focus on the situation in eastern Ladakh. This heightened vigilance is in response to the dynamic security environment in the region.

Expansion of Air Fleet with Tejas Mark 1A
Highlighting the IAF’s commitment to enhancing its combat capabilities, Air Chief Marshal Chaudhari disclosed plans for the acquisition of an additional 97 Light Combat Aircraft Tejas Mark 1A. This move underscores the IAF’s focus on modernizing its fleet and leveraging indigenous defense manufacturing capabilities.
Strengthening Air Defense with S-400 Missile Systems
Air Chief Marshal Chaudhari confirmed that the IAF has already received three units of the highly capable S-400 missile systems from Russia. Furthermore, he expressed optimism that the remaining two units will be delivered by the following year. The inclusion of the S-400 systems significantly enhances India’s air defense capabilities, reaffirming its commitment to national security.
The IAF Chief concluded the conference by emphasizing the importance of a robust and modern military in light of the uncertain geopolitical landscape. He asserted that the IAF will continue to serve as a cornerstone in projecting India’s military strength in the region. Additionally, he commended the IAF’s relentless efforts in ensuring the successful implementation of the Agnipath scheme and highlighted that the theaterisation plan remains an ongoing endeavor, indicative of the IAF’s dedication to adapt and evolve in the face of emerging challenges.
