Former Siemens Managing Director Denies Irregularities in Skill Development Project
Refutation of Allegations Amidst Investigation
Suman Bose, the former Managing Director of Siemens Industry Software India Ltd, has strongly refuted allegations of irregularities in the skill development project initiated during the tenure of former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Bose addressed the media in New Delhi and provided insights into the project’s details and Siemens’ involvement.
Student Training and Job Placement
Bose emphasized that the skill development project had a significant positive impact, with approximately 213,000 students receiving training and subsequently securing employment through the program. This assertion highlights the project’s tangible benefits in terms of employment opportunities for students.
Global Marketing Strategy Agreement
He revealed that the project was governed by a 90:10 agreement, which was part of Siemens’ global marketing strategy. This agreement encompassed various phases, including construction, a two-year operational period, one year of support, and eventual transfer to the government. Bose noted that in 2021, 40 fully documented and inventoried centers were successfully handed over to the government, indicating the project’s progression and fulfillment of contractual obligations.
End-to-End Delivery Scope
Bose clarified that the skill development project was not limited to hardware and software supply but involved comprehensive end-to-end delivery. Siemens, along with its partners and an ecosystem of hundreds of partners, played a pivotal role in project delivery. He likened the situation to conducting a murder investigation while the alleged victim is alive, emphasizing the baselessness of the allegations against the project.
Discount-Based Contribution by Siemens
Regarding Siemens’ contribution to the project, Bose clarified that it took the form of discounts, not a direct flow of money. He raised a valid question about how corruption could occur through discounts, highlighting the transparency in their involvement.
Unjust Charges Against Naidu
Bose expressed his belief that the arrest of former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was unjust, as there was no evidence of corruption in the project. His statement underscores the need for a thorough and fair investigation into the allegations surrounding the skill development project in Andhra Pradesh.
