BJP Plans Protest over Cash Seizure Linked to Congress MP; Income Tax Raids Continue
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs are set to stage a protest at the Gandhi statue in Parliament, expressing their discontent over the recent seizure of cash from premises associated with Congress MP Dheeraj Sahu during the ongoing Income Tax Department raids.
This development has provided the BJP with fresh grounds to criticize the opposition Congress.
Union Minister and BJP leader Meenakashi Lekhi condemned Congress, alleging a perpetuation of corruption through generations. Lekhi highlighted the substantial cash recovery of Rs 300 crore from Sahu’s premises, asserting Congress’s role in fostering corruption.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, referencing a news report on the recovery of Rs 200 crore allegedly linked to Sahu, took a dig at the opposition party, suggesting that this might only be a fraction of the larger sum stashed by corrupt politicians within the Congress ranks.
As the Income Tax Department continued its raids on Boudh Distilleries Private Limited premises, bolstered security measures were observed with the deployment of CISF personnel.
The ongoing raids in Odisha and Jharkhand have led to the recovery of over Rs 200 crore cash from various locations associated with Boudh Distilleries Private Limited and its affiliated entities.
The investigations and subsequent protests reflect the escalating tension between the BJP and Congress, revolving around alleged financial improprieties, underscoring the growing political ramifications of such incidents.
