NIA Seizes Property of Primary Suspect in Poonch Arms and Explosives Case
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) took action on Friday by attaching the properties of a significant militant operative who is currently undergoing trial in a UAPA case related to the seizure of arms, ammunition, explosives, and narcotics.
According to a statement from the NIA spokesperson, the anti-terror agency, following the directives of the NIA Special Court in Jammu, has seized four properties belonging to Mohdammad Yaseen, a resident of Poonch and an operative associated with the banned militant organization, Tehreek Ul Mujahideen (TuM).

This action has been carried out under Section 33 (1) of the UA (P) Act, 1967, in connection with the case RC-02/2021/NIA/JMU.Yaseen, who was apprehended on December 27, 2020, was found in possession of a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives at the time of his arrest.
The NIA had charge-sheeted him in 2021, and he is currently facing trial under various sections, including 121 A & 122 of IPC, along with section 120B of IPC, Section 7/25 of Arms Act 1959, and Sections 3 & 4 of the Explosive Substances Act. Additionally, he is charged under Sections 13, 18, & 39 of the UA (P) Act 1967.
The origins of the case trace back to the arrest of Mohammad Mustafa, which subsequently led to the apprehension of Mohammad Yaseen and another accused, Mohammad Farooq. The authorities also recovered arms, ammunition, explosives, and narcotics from their possession.
The NIA’s investigations unveiled a conspiracy to target religious places in the Mendhar area using grenades, as stated in the official release.
