NEW DELHI, MAY 09 [VoM News]: At least eight people have suffered from a hantavirus outbreak, of which three have lost their lives so far, Reuters reported.

As per details available with VoM News, all these cases are linked with a hantavirus outbreak on a cruise ship, which was first reported on May 2.

The ship was on its way to the Canary Islands from Cabo Verde and was carrying 147 passengers and crew members.

The World Health Organization has said that six of the cases have been confirmed as Andes virus, which is a type of hantavirus and poses a wider threat to the population on a large scale.
