KukiZo Council Apologises Over Killing of Six Naga Hostages, Seeks Impartial Probe
CHURACHANDPUR, June 25 [VoM News]: The KukiZo Council on Thursday, regretted the killing of six Nagas taken hostage in Kangpokpi district and its chairman, Henlienthang Thanglet, had issued an apologyon behalf of the Kuki-Zo community.
Thanglet made the following statement at a press conference in Churachandpur:. Thanglet also called the incident a “serious mistake” and said that the attack occurred “in a highly charged environment.” regarding the incident he said, “I condemn the incident and demand an impartial probe into all the violence caused by the ongoing inter-ethnic unrest in the state of Manipur.”.
On 13th May they abducted 6 persons, reportedly from Leilon Vaiphei village in Kangpokpi. Their dead bodies were recovered on 10th June near a Kuki-Zo village.
Ginza Vualzong, spokesperson for KZC, called for an investigation into the reported killing of 14 Kuki civilians and the torching of Kuki villages in the violence between Kuki and Naga groups earlier this year.

He also called for certain armed groups, such as the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah) and the Zeliangrong United Front ( Kamson), to be prevented from staging attacks on civilians.
The council further called for the suspension of all alleged or targeted security operations and insisted that the blockades on the roads in the Naga areas be lifted and ensured steady supply of food medicines fuel and medical services to the Naga population.
