Amid Rising Tensions, United States Begins Blockade of Iranian Ports to Pressurize Iran for Reopening the Strait of Hormuz
Washington, Apr 14 (VoM News): So, the day began with another development where President Donald Trump announced that the United States military has initiated the blockage of Iranian ports—a tactic to pressurize Iran to reopen the key energy route.
Donald Trump accused Iran of blackmailing the global trade route of the Strait of Hormuz—a key energy route from where 20 percent of the world’s oil supply passes.
As per reports available with VoM News, the US military’s Central Command has enforced this blockage on vessels entering or leaving Iranian ports along the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman. Ships passing through non-Iranian destinations are allowed to move after close monitoring.
Tehran has sharply responded to the United States’ blockage move, warning of a stronger reaction if its own ports are restricted. Tehran has warned that no port in the region would be safe if the United States enforces the blockage.
As the talks between Iran and the United States failed in Islamabad, reports suggest that think tanks in America are hinting at a possible limited strike on Iran, whereas a second round of negotiations has not yet been announced.
The United States states that Iran has not accepted its demands, whereas Iran alleges that the United States has put forward a heap of unreasonable demands. The United States continues to press Tehran not to pursue nuclear weapons, which Iran claims is a peaceful program.
This move by the United States has created an uprising in the process and has started to impact global trade, but political pundits see it as a tactic to control the grip on Chinese vessels, giving rise to fresh tensions in the region.
