    In an ongoing effort to combat drug trafficking, police have arrested three drug peddlers in Kulgam and seized a substantial amount of contraband. The arrests occurred in two separate operations led by different police stations.

    A checkpoint was set up by the Police Station Qaimoh in the village of Khudwani, where officers intercepted two suspicious individuals. A search led to the discovery of 6 grams of brown sugar and 1 kilogram of poppy straw concealed in a nylon bag.

    The arrested suspects have been identified as Zahid Mohiuddin Bhat, a resident of Gufbal, Qaimoh, and Talib Gull, a resident of Qaimoh. Both individuals are now in custody at the Qaimoh police station.

    In a separate operation, the Police Station Devsar conducted a patrol in Cheyan, Adigam, where they apprehended Naseer Ahmad Shan from Kilam.

    During this operation, officers recovered 1 kilogram of ground cannabis and 600 grams of poppy straw, also hidden in a nylon bag. Shan has been taken into custody at the Devsar police station.

    Cases under relevant legal sections have been filed at the respective police stations, and investigations are ongoing. The police department urges community members to come forward with any information regarding drug trafficking in their areas.

    They emphasize that those involved in drug peddling will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. These actions are part of a broader effort to ensure a drug-free society and protect the community from the harmful effects of drug abuse.
