Election Commission of India Clarifies No Dates Announced Yet for Lok Sabha Elections
The Election Commission of India (ECI) issued a clarification on Friday, dismissing a fake message circulating on WhatsApp regarding the schedule for Lok Sabha elections in 2024. ECI emphasized that no dates have been announced as of yet and urged the public to verify information before amplifying it.
In a post on Twitter, the Election Commission stated, “A fake message is being shared on WhatsApp regarding the schedule for #LokSabhaElections2024 #FactCheck: The message is #Fake. No dates have been announced so far by #ECI. The Election Schedule is announced by the Commission through a press conference. #VerifyBeforeYouAmplify.”

Election Commission of India:Assessment of MCC Violations and Repeat Offences
The Election Commission will assess any indirect Model Code of Conduct (MCC) violations based on the advisory as a fair basis to rework notices to be given in terms of time and content in the forthcoming elections. The geographical areas and phases of elections will be considered for determining “repeat” offences during the general election to the Lok Sabha and four state Legislative assemblies.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar highlighted the importance of fostering ethical and respectful political discourse that inspires unity rather than division. The poll body aims to uphold the Model Code of Conduct and has put ‘star campaigners’ and candidates on notice to prevent violations.
