Congress Releases First List:Key Candidates Unveiled for Multiple States
The Congress party unveiled its initial list of candidates for 39 Lok Sabha constituencies, covering states such as Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshwadeep, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Telangana, and Tripura. The list, released after a Central Election Committee meeting, includes notable names like Rahul Gandhi, who is set to contest again from the Wayanad constituency in Kerala.

Among the candidates, Chhattisgarh sees six contenders, with Shivkumar Dahariya, Jyotsana Mahant, Bhupesh Baghel, Rajendra Sahu, Vikas Upadhay, and Tamradhwaj Sahu in the fray for various constituencies. Karnataka’s seven candidates include DK Suresh for Bengaluru Rural, Anandaswamy Gaddadevara Mat for Haveri, Geetha Shivarajkumar for Shimoga, Shreyal Patel for Hassan, SP Muddahanumegowda for Tumkur, and Vekanataramegowda (Star Chandru) for Mandya.
Congress Releases First List:Kerala’s Significant Contenders
In Kerala, Shashi Tharoor is set to contest from Thiruvananthapuram, while the total of 16 candidates represents a diverse array in the state. Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal highlighted that out of the 39 candidates, 15 belong to the General category, while 24 represent SC, ST, OBC, and minority communities.
Congress Releases First List:Further Election Committee Meeting Planned
The Congress party plans to hold its second Election Committee meeting on March 11 in Delhi to discuss additional candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Meanwhile, the BJP has already released its first list of 195 candidates. The Lok Sabha elections are expected to take place in April-May this year.
