39 Madhya Pradesh Congress Leaders Expelled for Contesting Against Party Candidates
In a significant move, the Congress party in Madhya Pradesh has expelled 39 of its leaders from the primary membership for a duration of six years. This decision was made in response to these leaders contesting the upcoming state assembly elections against the official candidates nominated by the Congress. The directives for this action came from Kamal Nath, the state unit chief of the party.
Expulsions Over Independent and Other Party Tickets
The expelled leaders have chosen to contest the elections as independent candidates or on the tickets of various other political entities, including the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), the Samajwadi Party (SP), and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Some notable names among the expelled leaders include former Member of Parliament Premchand Guddu (Alot), former Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Antar Singh Darbar (Mhow), former MLA Yadvendra Singh (Nagod), state party spokesman Ajay Singh Yadav (Khargapur), Nasir Islam (Bhopal North), and Amir Aqueel (Bhopal North).
High-Stakes Assembly Elections
The state of Madhya Pradesh is gearing up for the crucial assembly elections, scheduled to be held on November 17. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is striving to retain its position in power, while the opposition Congress is making efforts to dislodge the saffron party from its dominant role in the state.
This expulsion of leaders reflects the internal challenges and complexities within the Congress party as it prepares for a highly competitive electoral battle in Madhya Pradesh.
