    Former Indian PM Manmohan Singh Passes Away at 92—A Recap

    Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India, has passed away at an age of 92. Following the deteriorating health condition, former Prime Minister admitted to the emergency department of the India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi on Thursday evening. However, the reason for this hospitalization was not yet known earlier.

    As per a statement from AIIMS Delhi, the former politician has passed away amid the treatment of an age-related medical condition. It has been reported that he fell unconscious at home on December 26, after which resuscitative measures were initiated at home. Later, he was admitted to the emergency ward of AIMS Delhi.

    At the time of filing of the report, despite all efforts, he couldn’t be revived and was declared dead at 9:51 pm, as per hospital sources.

    Political Career

    Born on September 26, 1932, in Punjab, the former prime minister took the bachelor’s and master’s in economics from Panjab University. Later, attained the PhD in Economics from Oxford University in 1962, from Cambridge University.

    Former Prime Minister of India, retired from the Rajya Sabha seat in April this year, ending a long parliamentary career. Under UPA government, Manmohan Singh gave the services of two terms, in 2004 & 2009. Between 1998 and 2004, he served as the leader of the opposition.

    He also represented Assam five times in the Upper House and, lastly, opposed the demonetization.
