Iran’s Mehr News Agency Releases New Video of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei Amid Health Speculation
Tehran, August 9 [VoM News]: Iran’s state-controlled Mehr News Agency has released a new undated video of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, marking his first public visual appearance in months amid ongoing speculation over his health.
The 12-second clip, published on Saturday, shows Mojtaba Khamenei seated on a carpet in what appears to be an indoor gathering, interacting with people around him. He is seen wearing a black turban and a light grey robe over white clothing. The agency did not disclose when or where the video was recorded.
The footage comes months after reports claimed Mojtaba Khamenei suffered serious facial and leg injuries during the February 28 US-Israeli airstrikes that killed his father and predecessor, Ali Khamenei.
Since assuming office as Iran’s Supreme Leader on March 8, Mojtaba Khamenei has issued several written statements through state media but has not made a verified public appearance or released any audio messages. He was also absent from the public funeral ceremonies held for his father.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian recently acknowledged that communication with Mojtaba Khamenei remains “very difficult at the moment” but said he had held productive meetings with him, describing him as logical and supportive.
The latest video follows a similar undated clip released by Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB in March, which showed Mojtaba Khamenei teaching religious studies without revealing the date or location of the recording.
The release comes amid continued international speculation over the Iranian leader’s health. US President Donald Trump recently claimed Mojtaba Khamenei was “90 per cent gone,” while Israeli media have also reported that he remains in poor condition. Iranian authorities have not officially commented on those claims.
The authenticity of the undated video has not been independently verified, and Iranian authorities have not provided additional details about the circumstances in which it was recorded.
