Workers Return to Their Duties at BHP’s Port Hedland, Australia; Negotiations Scheduled for August 18

Sydney, Australia, Aug. 9, 2026 [VoM News]: More than a hundred workers went on strike at BHP’s Port Hedland operations in Western Australia, seeking a fresh four-year enterprise bargaining agreement with BHP, Reuters reported.

The strike also led to a one-day halt in ship-loading operations on Saturday, which, however, resumed on Sunday.

As the negotiations are scheduled to take place on August 18, the workers will return to their duties on Monday.

Port Hedland is used by different companies for exports and is the world’s largest iron ore export hub, as 75 percent of iron ore exports from Western Australia’s Pilbara region pass through it.
