A militant hideout was uncovered in Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, while a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was discovered near Akhnoor on the outskirts of Jammu on Saturday evening, officials reported.

The joint search operation by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Rashtriya Rifles took place in Jhullas Behra village of Poonch district. During the raid, the team found two hand grenades and a small cache of ammunition. Experts were called in to handle the explosives, and the grenades were safely destroyed through a controlled explosion, causing no damage to the surrounding area.

In a separate incident, a suspected IED was discovered near Gharota in the Akhnoor area, just outside Jammu city. The IED, reportedly equipped with a timer, raised alarm among the local authorities. A bomb disposal squad was immediately dispatched to the scene to assess and neutralize the threat. As of now, further details regarding the IED are awaited as the operation continues.
