Key Highlights:
- Polling parties for remote Marwah and Warwan areas dispatched early.
- Kishtwar District prepares for first-phase Assembly Elections on 18th September.
- Extensive security and logistical arrangements made for polling stations.
Kishtwar, 14th September: The first batch of 33 polling parties, including election officials, police personnel, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), was dispatched today from Kishtwar headquarters to the remote areas of Marwah and Warwan in the 48-Inderwal Assembly Constituency. Of these, 21 parties are assigned to Marwah and 12 to Warwan.
The teams were flagged off by District Election Officer (DEO) Rajesh Kumar Shavan in the presence of General Observer Ramamoorthy Selvam and other officials.
Kishtwar District is set to vote on 18th September in the first phase of Assembly Elections. The administration has put extensive measures in place to ensure smooth and secure voting.
The advance dispatch is crucial due to the challenging terrain and weather conditions in the high-altitude regions of Marwah and Warwan, which are difficult to access, particularly in adverse weather.
Road access via Sinthan and Margantop stands at 12,500 feet above sea level, making early deployment necessary.
Under the supervision of Chief Electoral Officer Pandurang K Pole, thorough arrangements have been made for the safe transportation of election materials to 33 polling stations.
Local administration has been tasked with providing lodging, sanitation, health, and emergency services for polling staff during the election period.
Security measures, including CAPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police, have been strengthened at polling stations and en route to ensure free and fair elections. Remaining polling parties will be dispatched on 16th and 17th September.
