IUS Attack on Settebello Vessel: 21 Indians Rescued, Three Still Missing | India Summons Top US Diplomat
NEW DELHI, JUNE 11, 2026 [VoM News]: The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has strongly condemned the attack on the commercial vessel Settebello off the coast of Oman and confirmed that 21 Indians have been rescued so far, while three crew members remain missing.
While releasing details on X, the Ministry said that efforts are underway to locate the missing crew members.
The Indian Embassy in Oman has also stated that it is in continuous touch with Omani maritime authorities to support the ongoing emergency search and rescue operation.
Meanwhile, Indian authorities confirmed to Al Jazeera that India had summoned Jason Meeks, the US Embassy’s Deputy Chief of Mission in New Delhi.

Prior to this, the US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the strike on the Settebello vessel, claiming that the crew failed to comply with instructions from US forces while transiting through the Gulf of Oman carrying Iranian oil on Tuesday evening.
India has advocated for the protection of global trade routes from geopolitical disruption and called for an immediate end to hostile attacks on infrastructure and civilians.
