
Signatures Forgery Case: CID Questions TMC’s National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee Questioned For Six Hours
Kolkata, June 12, 2026 [VoM News]: West Bengal CID has questioned the Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee after he appears before the agency in connection to alleged signature forgery case. The case stem it’s link to the party’s choice of Leader of Opposition in the state assembly.
As details emerge, CID questioned him for nearly six hours, and left the CID headquarter without making any statement to media.
Beside this, Central agency Enforcement directorate and CBI also questioned him earlier.
All in a sudden, the incident took place when the allegations of forge and fabricated signatures in appointment of assembly office bearers in the party’s resolution were raised.

Ritabrata Banerjee and Sandipan Saha – the MLAs of twho were expelled from the party made a complaint to speaker Rathindra Bose that no formal resolution had been passed in June 06 party’s meeting. They alleged that several signatures were added later and some appeared in block letters.
Details says that CBI has searched the central office of Trinamool Congress and Abhishek Banerjee’s office seeking the recovery of original documents and failed to find any such.
However, investigators have hinted off the forensic examination into the signature matter.
Following the complaint from the assembly secretariat having charges of cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy, the probe was transferred to CI
D, which was being investigated earlier by Kolkata police.
