Kishtwar, September 2: Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kishtwar, Ghulam Rasool-JKAS, who also serves as the Nodal Officer for the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in the district for the ongoing Assembly Election 2024, held a crucial meeting with media representatives today.
The meeting focused on the guidelines that media personnel must follow to ensure accurate and impartial coverage during the election period, in strict accordance with the MCC.
In his address, the ADDC emphasized the vital role of the media in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process. He stressed that all media content must be thoroughly verified before being published or broadcasted.
This includes rigorous fact-checking against official sources and other reliable references to prevent the spread of unverified or speculative reports.
ADDC Kishtwar reminded the media of the importance of impartial reporting, urging them to avoid any form of bias that could influence public perception during the elections.
He highlighted the Election Commission’s guidelines on media coverage, stressing the need for media outlets to use credible sources and accurately attribute all information.
Furthermore, the ADDC advised media personnel to steer clear of sensational or provocative headlines that could potentially sway voter opinions. He also underlined the importance of responsible social media usage, instructing that all posts be tagged with the MCC to ensure transparency and uphold the election’s integrity.
The meeting concluded with ADDC Kishtwar encouraging the media to work together towards a fair and well-informed electoral process, reiterating the critical role they play in sustaining democracy.
The meeting saw the participation of DIO Kishtwar Kuldeep Kumar, Nodal Officer Training Riyaz Ahmed Butt, along with representatives from various media houses.
