Azam Khan Ruled Out of T20I Series Against New Zealand Due to Calf Injury
Pakistan’s Azam Khan will miss the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand due to a Grade One calf muscle tear in his right leg.
Following scans, the 25-year-old has been advised to rest for 10 days. This injury was first noticed during a batting practice session before the first T20I at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Azam will now head to the National Cricket Academy for rehabilitation, supervised by the PCB medical team, separate from the rest of the squad.
This setback is particularly significant for Azam as he was eyeing a spot in Pakistan’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
After the New Zealand series, Pakistan has matches against Ireland and England before the T20 World Cup. Azam aims to recover in time for these matches.
Unfortunately, the first T20I against New Zealand was canceled due to rain.
