Arriving in Abu Dhabi at the start of a Gulf tour, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is seeking to advance the US-Iran peace deal with regional partners.

South Korea's Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries has announced that four additional South Korean-operated vessels have safely passed through the Strait of Hormuz, bringing the total number of South Korea-linked ships to exit the region to six.

According to the ministry, the four vessels, carrying 26 South Korean crew members, had been waiting inside the strait and are now sailing normally. One of the ships is reportedly en route back to South Korea.

With the latest departures, the number of South Korea-linked vessels remaining in the Strait of Hormuz has dropped to 18.

The development comes as the International Maritime Organization (IMO) continues efforts to evacuate more than 11,000 sailors who have been stranded in the strategic waterway for months amid regional tensions.

US President Donald Trump has sharply criticised the Senate's approval of a war powers resolution directing him to halt military action against Iran.

In a post on X, Trump argued that Iran was under significant pressure and willing to make major concessions, claiming the Senate vote was "poorly timed and meaningless". He said the resolution sends the wrong message to Tehran and makes US efforts against what he described as a leading state sponsor of terrorism more difficult.

Trump also criticised the four Republican senators who joined Democrats in supporting the measure, saying their decision had complicated his administration's approach toward Iran. Despite the vote, he insisted he would continue pursuing his objectives, declaring that he would "get it done, one way or the other".

The Senate resolution reflects growing debate in Washington over presidential war powers and US involvement in the conflict with Iran.

Many Syrians said their country should avoid becoming involved in new regional conflicts, arguing that Syria has already endured years of instability and should focus on domestic recovery rather than external military confrontations.

Trump's remarks, viewed as an unusual public proposal, came as he urged Israel to allow Syria to deal with Hezbollah, amid ongoing efforts to reshape regional security arrangements.
