CEO SMVDSB Calls for Synergy Among Stakeholders Ahead of Navratras
As the Shardiya Navratra festival approaches, Anshul Garg, Chief Executive Officer, spearheaded a crucial meeting at the Spiritual Growth Centre, Katra. The purpose of this gathering was to assess and enhance the security and operational preparedness of the Shrine area, ensuring a hassle-free pilgrimage experience for devotees. This year’s Navratra festival is scheduled to begin on October 15 and continue until October 23, 2023.
Stakeholders Unite for Pilgrimage Preparedness
The meeting brought together a diverse group of attendees, including representatives from security agencies, local authorities, and various intelligence agencies. The collective effort aimed to review and reinforce the preparations necessary for the upcoming Navratra festival. Among the attendees were Addl. Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB; SSP, JKP, Reasi; Commandant, CRPF; and other high-ranking officials.
Enhanced Security and Management for Navratras
CEO Anshul Garg emphasized the proximity of the Navratras and the expected surge in devotees at the Holy Shrine and the base camp in Katra. He stressed the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders during the festival to ensure a smooth pilgrimage. Security personnel and CCTV cameras will play crucial roles in maintaining order along the route to Bhawan and Katra. Pilgrims are required to wear valid RFID cards linked to various facilities throughout the Yatra, and unauthorized pilgrims will not be permitted to start their journey.
Additionally, security agencies were directed to maintain vigilant screening at all entry points to prevent unregistered individuals from entering the pilgrimage track. SDM, Katra, was instructed to verify and monitor pony porters for any suspicious activities. Extensive checks on overcharging of fare at various locations in Katra were also mandated.
Comprehensive Disaster Management and Crowd Control
CEO Anshul Garg reviewed the Disaster Management measures, including fire-fighting preparedness, to ensure a swift response in case of emergencies. He called for synchronized efforts from SDRF personnel and DMTF to manage crowds effectively. Regular announcements and monitoring at Bhawan, along with identification of holding areas, were also discussed to alleviate congestion.
The meeting concluded with directives to address issues related to vehicle movement, sanitation, drinking water arrangements, and illumination of dark spots in Katra town. Haphazard parking, which often causes traffic bottlenecks during Navratras, will be curbed through a special drive to tow away unauthorized vehicles.
The collective efforts and proactive measures discussed during this meeting aim to ensure the safety, security, and seamless experience of the Navratra pilgrimage for all devotees.
