    ED Summons Abhishek Banerjee in Teacher Recruitment Scam

    The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a summons to Abhishek Banerjee, the national general secretary of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), requiring him to appear before its officers on October 9. This summons is in connection with the ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities associated with the West Bengal teacher recruitment scam. A senior official disclosed this development today.

    Probe Extends to Abhishek Banerjee’s Wife

    Furthermore, the probe agency has also summoned Rujira, the wife of Abhishek Banerjee, for questioning on October 11. Both individuals have been instructed to appear at the ED’s office located at the CGO Complex.

    Previous Summons to Abhishek Banerjee’s Parents

    Previously, the Enforcement Directorate had summoned Abhishek Banerjee’s parents, Amit and Lata Banerjee, to appear before its officers during the same week in connection with the same case.

    Abhishek Banerjee’s Participation in TMC Protest Rally

    It is noteworthy that Abhishek Banerjee, the Member of Parliament from Diamond Harbour, had received a summons from the Enforcement Directorate to appear on October 3. However, he chose to skip the summons and instead participated in a protest rally organized by the TMC in New Delhi. The rally aimed to voice the party’s demands for the immediate release of central funds allegedly owed to the state and was a part of the ongoing political developments in West Bengal.
