Fly 91 Launches Maiden Flight from Mopa to Agatti
Fly 91, the latest addition to the Indian civil aviation sector, initiated its first flight between Mopa in Goa and Agatti in Lakshadweep. Union Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia virtually flagged off the inaugural flight from New Delhi, expressing optimism about India’s civil aviation gaining momentum.
Commercial Services Starting on March 18
Fly91 announced the commencement of commercial services on March 18, with flights connecting Goa to Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Under the UDAN scheme, six new airlines have been awarded 18 routes, marking a positive shift in the country’s aviation landscape.
Fly91’s Expansion Plans and Vision
Currently operating two ATR 72-600 aircraft, Fly91 aims to add six more planes within the next six months. Emphasizing a focus on tier 2-3 cities in the future, Fly91’s chairman, Harsha Raghavan, sees this as just the beginning. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the government’s efforts in advancing the aviation sector.
Regulatory Approval and Targeting Tier 2-3 Towns
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) granted Air Operation Certificate (AOC) on March 6, allowing Fly91 to operate flights under the UDAN and Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS). With a strategic focus on tier 2 and tier 3 towns, Fly91 envisions connecting airports across the country.
