President Trump Criticizes Outgoing British PM Keir Starmer; Slams Germany and Italy Over NATO Support
Washington, June 23, 2026 [VoM News]: Criticising outgoing British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, US President Donald Trump said that Starmer was “not Churchill” and accused him of failing to support Washington during its conflict with Iran.
Speaking at the White House, Trump claimed that Britain’s stance during the crisis had weakened its international influence and strained the long-standing relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom.
Trump also suggested that Starmer’s position had political consequences at home, arguing that British voters were unhappy with his response to the crisis.
The US President further criticised several NATO allies, including Germany and Italy, urging them to do more in support of collective defence and broader Western security objectives.

Trump has repeatedly called on members of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to increase defence spending and align more closely with US security priorities, making burden-sharing a central theme of his foreign policy approach.
His latest remarks come amid continued debate within the alliance over defence commitments, military spending, and responses to evolving security challenges in Europe and the Middle East.
