Nepal Allocates Five Crores for Cricket Team’s T20 World Cup Preparation
The Nepal Government has earmarked a fund of five crores for the Nepal national cricket team to support their preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2024. This significant financial boost was announced by the Prime Minister’s Office through their official communication channels. The allocated funds are intended to facilitate the training and readiness of the Nepali cricket team, participating in the T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in the United States and the West Indies from June 1 to June 29, 2024.
Largest-Ever ICC Event with 55 Matches Across Nine Cities
The T20 World Cup 2024 is anticipated to be the most extensive ICC event to date, featuring 55 matches played across nine cities – three in the USA and six in the West Indies. The generous financial support from the government comes as a boost to Nepal’s cricketing endeavors and aims to enhance the team’s competitiveness on the global stage.
Tri-Nation Series Outcome and Cricketing Highlights
In recent cricketing events, Nepal faced a four-wicket defeat against the Netherlands in the final match of the tri-nation series at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground. Despite a competitive total of 184/8, Nepal couldn’t secure a victory. Kushal Malla’s four-wicket haul showcased individual brilliance but couldn’t change the outcome. Timm van der Gugten’s steady innings ensured the Netherlands clinched victory with three balls to spare.
The financial infusion from the government signals a commitment to fostering cricketing talent and elevating Nepal’s standing in international cricket. The support is expected to contribute significantly to the team’s preparations and performance in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
