GCC Reiterates Call for Palestinian State with 1967 Borders
During their recent ministerial meeting in Riyadh, the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) reaffirmed their support for the establishment of a Palestinian state. The statement, delivered by Qatar’s Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, emphasized the GCC’s desire for an “independent State of Palestine on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
The GCC member nations expressed their commitment to advocating for a lasting peace that ensures the Palestinian people obtain all their legitimate rights as sanctioned by international bodies. Notably, Israel continues to oppose the establishment of a Palestinian state, setting the stage for ongoing tensions in the region. The GCC’s reiterated stance highlights the persistent call for a comprehensive resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
