The accountability court in Rawalpindi conducted the hearing at Adiala jail, where Imran Khan is currently held. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) initiated the investigation, accusing Khan, his wife, and others of the alleged acquisition of extensive land under the Al Qadir University Trust, resulting in a reported loss of 190 million pounds to the exchequer.

Judge Nasir Javed Rana read the chargesheet during the court hearing, outlining the allegations against Khan and Bushra. The case involves the settlement of 190 million pounds recovered by the UK’s National Crime Agency from property tycoon Malik Riaz Hussain. Khan, as prime minister, is accused of allowing the businessman to use the funds to settle a hefty Supreme Court-imposed fine, instead of depositing it in the national treasury. In return, it is alleged that Khan and his wife received land to establish the Al-Qadir University.
