Airbus Boosts Make-in-India Vision with Dynamatic Technologies Aerospace Order
Airbus, a global aerospace giant, has bestowed a groundbreaking aerospace order for A220 aircraft doors upon Dynamatic Technologies, a Bengaluru-based company. This move aligns with the “make-in-India” vision, marking a significant stride in bolstering domestic aerospace capabilities. The contract encompasses the manufacturing and assembly of Airbus’s A220 aircraft doors, emerging as one of the most substantial aerospace export agreements to India.
Dynamatic’s Role in A220 Programme Ramp-up
Under this pivotal contract, Dynamatic will play a pivotal role in supporting the ramp-up of the A220 programme by augmenting the existing capacity. The scope involves the manufacturing and assembly of cargo, passenger, and service doors, along with over-wing emergency exit doors for the A220 family aircraft. Notably, this entails the production of eight doors per aircraft. Furthermore, Dynamatic’s involvement encompasses manufacturing detailed parts components, creating downstream opportunities for other Indian suppliers within the aerospace sector.
Civil Aviation Minister Commends Airbus-Dynamatic Partnership
Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia hailed the collaboration between Airbus and Dynamatic Technologies as a “proud moment for all.” He emphasized the significance of Airbus doubling its procurement from India, reflecting a notable shift toward self-reliance in aerospace manufacturing. This strategic partnership not only marks one of the largest export contracts for an Indian aerospace manufacturing company but also contributes to realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “make-in-India.” Scindia expressed optimism about the transformative impact on the Indian aerospace ecosystem and lauded the growth and employment dividends anticipated from this collaboration.
Airbus’s Ongoing Commitment to India’s Aerospace Ecosystem
This contract marks Airbus’s second doors contract with an Indian firm within a year, following the 2023 contract with Tata Advanced Systems Ltd for the manufacturing of bulk and cargo doors for A320s. Airbus recognizes India as a strategic resource hub, expanding its industrial footprint in aircraft assembly, component manufacturing, engineering design and development, MRO support, pilot and maintenance training, and academic collaboration. The aerospace giant’s commitment to nurturing the wider Indian aerospace ecosystem is evident in initiatives such as building Final Assembly Lines for the C295 military aircraft and the H125 helicopter. These endeavors underscore Airbus’s dedication to fostering India’s aerospace capabilities.
