Gold Seized in Ingenious Concealment at Calicut International Airport
Customs officers at Calicut International Airport discovered 250 grams of gold cleverly disguised as seven silver-coloured spoons and three L-shaped keys in a passenger’s checked-in baggage.
The investigation is ongoing. This incident follows a recent seizure by the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) at Kochi Airport, where 848.75 grams of suspected foreign-origin gold, worth nearly Rs 44 lakh, was found in compound form, concealed in the rectum of a passenger arriving from Jeddah via Kuwait.
The Customs Department continues to crack down on gold smuggling activities.
