Five Individuals, Including Two Women and a Juvenile, Apprehended in Cross-LoC Weapons Smuggling Operation.
Arrests and Recoveries
Jammu and Kashmir police have successfully apprehended one Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant and five militant associates, including two women and a juvenile. This operation, carried out in Baramulla, led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition, including grenades and pistols.
The Investigation Unfolds
The series of arrests began with the detention of two suspects in Uri in September. Police initiated the arrests after receiving information about Yaseen Ahmad Shah, who was reported to have joined the proscribed militant outfit LeT/ TRF. This prompted the registration of a case under relevant sections of the law in Police Station Baramulla, and the investigation took off from there.

Uncovering Terrorist Associates
During questioning, Yaseen Ahmad Shah revealed the name of his associate, Parvaiz Ahmad Shah, leading to a joint operation that resulted in his arrest. The investigation continued to unravel as the arrested militants disclosed the names of further associates, including Nigeena, Aafreena, Mudasir Ahmad Rather, and Showkat Ahmad Malik. These individuals were linked to the detained militants, and additional arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession.
The Wider Implications
The investigation into the arrested individuals revealed that they were operating under the direction of Pakistan-based handlers and were planning to recruit more terrorists while plotting terrorist activities in Baramulla and nearby areas. A case has been registered under sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UA (P)) and Arms Act in Police Station Baramulla, with ongoing investigations.
