The Ayodhya Showdown: Encounter with the Prime Suspect and Accomplices
The joint operation involving the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force and Ayodhya Police led to a dramatic face-off with the prime accused, Anis Khan, and his associates Azad and Vishambhar Dayal Dubey. The encounter resulted in the unfortunate injury of three police officers, including the station officer of Purakalandar police station, Ratan Sharma. Khan succumbed to his injuries, while Azad and Dubey are currently receiving medical treatment for gunshot wounds.
The confrontation between law enforcement and the accused transpired at Chhitarva Para Kail Road, situated within the jurisdiction of the Purakalander police station. The operation’s success can be attributed to the diligent efforts of the police team, which earned them commendation and a reward of Rs 1 lakh from special director general (law and order) Prashant Kumar.

Victim’s Resilience: From Tragedy to Recovery
The assault on the woman constable, initially found in a state of distress aboard the Saryu Express train, shocked the nation. She was discovered with deep cuts on her face and body, her clothes disheveled, and in a pool of blood. Rushed to Shri Ram Hospital in Ayodhya and later referred to the Lucknow Trauma Centre, the victim underwent a thorough medical examination that fortunately ruled out sexual assault.
The breakthrough in this case came as a result of the victim’s cooperation and the relentless pursuit of justice by the Ayodhya Police. The police investigation, based on the victim’s statement, culminated in the successful operation against the assailants.
Strengthening Security in Ayodhya: UPSSF Takes Charge
In response to the incident and to bolster security in Ayodhya, the Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UPSSF) has assumed control of the ‘red zone’ of the Ram Janmabhoomi. This move involves the replacement of Provincial Armed Constabulary personnel with eight companies of the UPSSF. These additional security measures aim to ensure the safety and tranquility of the area.
