Karnataka Minister Initiates Deadline to Combat Wakf Property Encroachments
BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan, the Minister for Karnataka Housing, Minorities Welfare, and Wakf, has directed officials to deliver a comprehensive report within one month on the encroachment of Wakf properties across all districts and taluks in the state.
During the district wakf meeting at the Directorate of Minorities Welfare’s office, Khan emphasized the necessity of a detailed report outlining encroachments on government and private Wakf properties. He also stressed the urgency of reporting pending court cases associated with these properties.
Khan highlighted the ongoing private agency surveys and demanded synchronization between the agency’s findings and the reports submitted by district officers. He warned of strict actions, including suspension, against officials in case of discrepancies between the two reports.
Expressing concern over officials neglecting court proceedings or lacking preparation during property cases, Khan firmly stated that corrective measures were imperative to avoid consequent disciplinary actions.
Emphasizing the sanctity of the Wakf department’s service, Khan cautioned against any corrupt practices, reiterating that the department’s responsibilities were godly in nature. He vowed to take decisive actions against offenders without leniency.
Furthermore, Khan encouraged proposals for constructing protective compound walls around Wakf properties, stressing uniform design for easier identification of these properties.
Department Secretary Manoj Jain and Wakf Board Chairman Anwar Basha were among the attendees at this significant meeting presided over by Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan.
