India Registers Highest Daily COVID Cases Since May 2023, Active Cases Surge
India recorded a steep single-day spike of 752 new coronavirus infections, marking the highest count since May 21, 2023, as per the updated data from the Union health ministry. Concurrently, active cases surged to 3,420.
The death toll rose to 5,33,332, with four new fatalities reported in the last 24 hours, including two from Kerala, one in Rajasthan, and one in Karnataka. The country’s cumulative COVID-19 case tally stands at 4.50 crore (4,50,07,964).
Recoveries from the virus have climbed to 4,44,71,212, elevating the national recovery rate to 98.81%, as indicated by the health ministry’s website. The fatality rate currently stands at 1.19%.
According to the ministry’s data, India has administered a total of 220.67 crore doses of COVID vaccines to date.
