‘Kill Donald Trump’ Banners, ‘Revenge’ Chants Mark Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Funeral in Tehran
TEHRAN, July 4 [VoM News]: Strong anti-American slogans and calls for revenge were raised as thousands of mourners gathered in Tehran for a multi-day funeral for former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
At the Grand Mosalla, crowds chanted “Revenge! Revenge!” while some mourners displayed banners reading “Kill Trump” and shouted “Death to America” during the state funeral.
The slogans clearly reflects the public anger following Khamenei’s death in an airstrike at the start of the recent Iran war.
There was a strong display of martyred khamenei’s casket alongside those of several family members who were also killed in the strike.
Whereas, more are expected to participate in funeral ceremonies across Iran before the procession continues to other cities and neighbouring Iraq.
The funeral comes amid heightened tensions between Iran, Israel and the United States, as negotiations continue over a permanent end to the conflict. Iranian military officials have warned against any action during the mourning period.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking at an event in South Dakota, said Iran was eager to reach a settlement and remarked that the United States had “gave them a week off for a funeral.”
The funeral has become both a national mourning event and a display of Iran’s continued defiance amid regional tensions.
