Ministry of Home Affairs Declares 23 Individuals as Terrorists Under UAPA, Targets LeT and JeM Operatives

NEW DELHI, July 4: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has designated 23 individuals as terrorists under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in a major move aimed at strengthening action against cross-border terrorism.

According to the notification, most of those designated are alleged operatives of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), who are believed to be based in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The list includes suspects allegedly linked to the 2016 Nagrota Army Camp attack and the 2022 Sunjwan military station attack. It also names a Bengaluru-born operative who is reportedly residing in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

The designation under the UAPA enables authorities to take stronger legal action against the listed individuals, including freezing assets, restricting financial transactions and intensifying efforts to curb terror financing and support networks.

The latest move is part of the Centre’s ongoing strategy to target individuals accused of involvement in terrorism and activities threatening India’s national security.
