Despite Chitra’s Brilliance and Mariya’s Hat-Trick, JK Loses to Hyderabad in Women’s U-23 T20 Trophy
In a thrilling encounter at the Women’s Under-23 T20 Trophy held at 22 Yards Salt Lake, Hyderabad clinched victory against Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) by 22 runs, despite the outstanding performances of all-rounder Chitra Singh Jamwal and seamer Mariya Noorain.
Hyderabad, batting first, posted a competitive total of 125 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Skipper G Trisha’s exceptional innings stood out as she scored a robust 63 runs off 54 balls, laced with 5 boundaries and 3 sixes.
Pranavi Chandra’s contribution of 31 runs off 33 deliveries, comprising 4 fours and a six, further bolstered their total.
J&K’s Mariya Noorain shone with her medium-paced bowling, claiming an impressive 4-wicket haul, including a hat-trick. Chitra Singh Jamwal and Madhu Devi also chipped in with 2 wickets each.
In response, J&K could manage 103 runs in 20 overs, falling short by 22 runs despite Chitra Singh Jamwal’s exceptional unbeaten knock of 68 runs from 57 deliveries, embellished with 10 boundaries and a maximum.
Unfortunately, apart from opener Bawandeep Kaur’s contribution of 6 runs, no other batter reached double figures.
Hyderabad’s bowling unit, led by Ishitha Koduri, who took 2 wickets conceding 17 runs, alongside contributions from Palthya Parvathi, Vanka Pooja, and G Trisha with a wicket each, ensured J&K’s fall short of the target.
J&K is set to face Mumbai in their upcoming clash on December 15, 2023, at Barasat Cricket Ground, Kolkata, seeking to bounce back from this defeat.
