Pakistan’s Karachi Braces for Chilly Showers: Meteorological Department Predicts More Rain and Thunder
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted another round of rain accompanied by thunder in Karachi, making the weather cooler this Sunday. As Karachi gears up for this change in weather, the Met Office provides insights into the upcoming atmospheric conditions.
Weather Update: Partly Cloudy Skies and Dropping Temperatures
Within the next 24 hours, Karachi is expected to experience partly cloudy skies, with the lowest temperature recorded at 18.4°C and humidity at 66%. Winds from the northeast are blowing at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour, adding to the overall chilliness. Meteorologist Owais Haider suggests that Karachiites may witness drizzle and light rain, contributing to a significant drop in temperature, with expectations of it hovering around 15°C.
Haider also anticipates another spell of rain in Karachi in December, assuring residents that the weather won’t be as cold as the previous year. This forecast provides valuable information for the residents of Karachi to prepare for the changing climate.
Citywide Impact: Rainfall, Hailstorms, and Power Outages
The recent weather patterns have already impacted various areas of Karachi and Sindh, witnessing both light and heavy rain, accompanied by hailstorms in some regions. Notably, Gulshan Iqbal and Gulistan Johar experienced heavy rainfall, while other parts such as II Chundrigar Road, Saddar, Old City Area, Defence, and Clifton reported drizzle. Unfortunately, these weather conditions led to power outages in different areas.
The effects extend beyond Karachi, as Hyderabad and its surrounding areas also witnessed cloudy weather throughout the day, with some regions like Latifabad, Jamshoro, and Thana Bula Khan experiencing light and heavy rains. Further forecasts indicate that Tharparkar, Umarkot, Badin, and Mirpurkhas are on the radar to receive rain accompanied by winds, emphasizing the broader impact of the current weather system.
