Sachin Tendulkar Reflects on Career Highlights Before World Cup Final
As the World Cup final between India and Australia draws near, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar arrived in Ahmedabad, bringing with him memories of an illustrious career spanning over two decades. Tendulkar, renowned for breaking numerous batting records, reminisced about his career highlights.
India’s World Cup Triumph: Tendulkar’s Proudest Moment
Tendulkar, often referred to as the ‘Master Blaster’, shared that the most satisfying moment of his career was India’s successful World Cup campaign led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He fondly recalled the final match of that tournament as the “happiest day” of his career, where Team India clinched the ODI World Cup trophy for the second time.
India Overcomes Semi-Final Hurdles
Reflecting on India’s recent World Cup performances, Tendulkar noted that the team had come close to victory but stumbled in the semi-finals against Australia and New Zealand in 2015 and 2019. However, this year, India overcame their 12-year semi-final jinx with a convincing 70-run victory over New Zealand, securing a spot in the current World Cup final.
India vs Australia: A Rematch 20 Years in the Making
The upcoming final, a face-off between India and Australia, marks their first encounter in a World Cup final in 20 years. The 2003 final saw India suffer a heavy defeat, but the team, still nursing those wounds and the loss in the World Test Championship earlier this year, is now ready for a showdown with the ‘Baggy Greens’. Both teams boast strong squads, setting the stage for an exciting clash.
