PM Modi Affirms Article 370 Hindrance to Jammu and Kashmir’s Development
Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir and was abrogated in 2019, served as the biggest obstacle to the erstwhile state’s development. During a rally after launching projects worth over Rs 32,000 crore for Jammu and Kashmir and Rs 13,500 crore for other regions, PM Modi emphasized that balanced development had been witnessed across Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation.
Pledge of Holistic Development: Modi’s Commitment to Jammu and Kashmir
PM Modi affirmed his commitment to holistic development in Jammu and Kashmir, noting that the abrogation of Article 370 was a significant step toward ensuring social justice for the common people. He highlighted the positive response globally to the region’s development, emphasizing that a developed India equates to a developed Jammu and Kashmir. The Prime Minister also expressed satisfaction in witnessing the region break free from dynastic rule.
Landmark Day for Jammu and Kashmir: Inauguration of Key Development Projects
Referring to the projects inaugurated or initiated, PM Modi termed it a remarkable day for Jammu and Kashmir. The comprehensive development projects spanned education, railways, aviation, and road sectors. The Prime Minister noted the establishment of a record number of schools, colleges, and universities across India in the last decade, with 50 new degree colleges established in Jammu and Kashmir alone. As part of the ‘Viksit Bharat, Viksit Jammu’ program, PM Modi distributed appointment letters to approximately 1,500 newly recruited government employees and engaged with beneficiaries of various schemes, reinforcing the government’s commitment to the welfare of the region.
