Threatening Email to RBI and Mumbai Banks Sparks Bomb Fears, Police Investigate
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) received a threatening email on Tuesday, indicating potential bomb planting within its premises, as stated by the police.
This ominous communication also targeted the HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank in Mumbai, with threats of similar bomb placements.
Allegedly, the sender of the email demanded the resignations of RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The email extended threats to various locations in Mumbai, totaling 11 bomb warnings. Despite thorough police investigations across these places, no evidence of explosives was found, leading to a dead end in the pursuit of these threats.
Law enforcement authorities have registered a case under relevant sections in response to the threatening correspondence.
Further probing into this alarming situation is actively underway as authorities aim to apprehend the sender and ascertain the credibility of the threats.
