Russia Strikes Ukraine; 9 Killed, Dozens Injured

NEW DELHI, JUNE 02, 2026 [VoM News]: At least nine people were killed, while dozens were injured after a fresh wave of Russian missile and drone attacks struck Ukraine, escalating tensions further.

The conflict is expected to deepen further as peace negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv remain stalled.

According to Ukrainian authorities, the capital city of Kyiv came under a major overnight assault involving ballistic missiles and drones.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said four people were killed while at least 58 others, including two children, were wounded. Deadly strikes were also reported from other regions.

United States Attacks Iranian Air Defence System on Goruk and Qeshm Island

In Dnipro, five people were killed and 25 injured following a Russian attack, according to local authorities. Another 10 people, including a child, were wounded in Kharkiv.

Prior to this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had warned that Russia was preparing a massive new strike and urged civilians to follow air raid alerts.

President Zelensky has continued pressing Western allies, particularly the United States, to provide additional Patriot missile defence systems to counter escalating Russian bombardments.

Meanwhile, Russian authorities reported retaliatory Ukrainian drone strikes. One person was killed in Russia’s Kursk region near the border, while a drone attack also sparked a fire at an oil refinery in Krasnodar.
