
Due To Heavy Rain Alert, Shri Sarthal Devi Yatra Suspended
Kishtwar, July 21 (VoM News): As the red alert has been declared in Jammu Kashmir, and there are the risks of rain-related disasters. Due to adverse weather conditions, the district administration Kishtwar suspended the movement of pilgrims to the annual Shri Sarthal Devi Yatra until further orders.
In a communique, the.District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) said the decision was taken following an India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast predicting moderate to heavy rainfall across the region.
The existing weather conditions could trigger landslides, shooting stones, flash floods, overflowing streams and other hazards, posing a serious risk to the safety of pilgrims, stated by the authorities.
While issuing the advisory, the authority clearly said that no pilgrim would be allowed to proceed towards the Shri Sarthal Devi shrine until further orders.
The administration has advised the devotees to postpone their pilgrimage and follow all advisories issued by the district administration and other competent authorities, and co-operate with the authorities while keeping the larger public interest in consideration.
