
SIT Constituted, Magisterial Probe Launched Into Police Firing Incident At Bhaderwah, Doda
Doda, July 21 (VoM News): In a major action against the recent incident in Bhaderwah area, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has ordered a magisterial inquiry and constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the killing of a civilian in an alleged police firing in Bhaderwah.
Soon after the incident that protests across Doda and Kishtwar districts were witnessed demanding for a high-level enquiry investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing.
Aarif Hussain, a resident of Cheeka village, was killed on July 16 during an alleged scuffle with Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel in the Jaie area of Bhaderwah.

Police maintained that Hussain attempted to snatch the service rifle of an SOG personnel, during which three policemen were also injured.
Bhaderwah Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar said Deputy Commissioner Krishan Lal, has ordered a magisterial inquiry to be conducted by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Assar, Ashok Katoch, to ascertain the sequence of events and fix responsibility.
He added that Doda Senior Superintendent of Police Kartik Shrotriya has also constituted a five-member SIT, headed by Bhaderwah SDPO Naveed Shaukat Qazi, to conduct a parallel police investigation.
Hussain is survived by his pregnant wife, mother and a minor child. His father, Mohammad Iqbal, a Special Police Officer (SPO), was killed by militants in 1999.
